IAM infrastructure expansion at Millenium BCP

Initial situation

Millennium BCP is the largest publicly listed bank in Portugal and as such occupies an important place in the Portuguese financial market. As the country’s second-largest bank and a listed company with the largest market share of customer loans and total customer assets under management, the financial institution had an extensive distribution network of 695 branches at the end of 2014. The bank also serves as a reference institution in Europe and Africa thanks to its business activities in Poland, Mozambique, Angola and Switzerland.

Millennium BCP has relied on IAM solutions from Beta Systems for over 15 years. Robust and reliable products as well as custom-fit implementations are key to this trust.

The Challenge

With the expansion of its cooperation with Beta Systems, the bank was looking for a scalable solution (IAM Millenium BCP) that would meet both IT and commercial requirements.

Implementation

Due to the complexity of the managed environment, an IAM solution (IAM Millenium BCP) was needed that provided a high level of automation while taking into account Millennium BCP’s specific processes. The GARANCY product and the approach Beta Systems takes in its IAM product line prepare the ground for flexible solutions that meet the needs. Millennium BCP selected the Beta Systems IAM solution to:

• ensure that security-relevant HR processes are mapped in the information system in real-time throughout their lifecycle.
•  manage users and their access rights with one powerful tool across all core information system platforms and applications.
• standardize and automate the assignment of access rights using role-based access control.

Solution

The GARANCY IDM product used at Millennium and the entire Beta Systems IAM product suite address exactly these complex issues.  Furthermore, the suite ensures company-wide data consistency and supports regular checks of access rights to all IT systems. It also provides relevant information on risks and usage in a user-friendly format. This data serves as the basis for decision-making, governance management, and auditing processes.
